The Resource Center provides library and information services to the staff of the National Heart Institute. The library is opened to the general public but service restrictions do apply.

Registers library borrowers

Those who are on attachment for more than 1 month at IJN can register as Temporary borrowers.

Check out 2 books (3 weeks), 2 back-issue journals (1 week) and 2 audio-visuals (1 week)

Renews library materials - all materials can be renewed only once.

The Reference Department offers the following services:

Answers general questions about library use

Provides Medline search

Below are some sites providing free MEDLINE on the Internet:

Healthworks - Access to MEDLINE, the largest database of published medical literature

Medscape - Features thousand of full-text peer-reviewed articles, medical news, free MEDLINE, "zoomable" color graphics, self-assessment features, medical news, and annotated links to Internet resources.

PubMed - Provides free access to MEDLINE. NLM's search service to access the 9 million citations in MEDLINE and Pre-MEDLINE, with links to participating on-line journals and other related databases

U.S. National Library of Medicine - Search free MEDLINE on two web-based products i.e. Internet Grateful Med and PubMed. Beside MEDLINE, provides access to AIDSLINE, HealthStar, AIDSDRUGS, AIDSTRIALS, SDILINE, etc.


Document delivery

Obtains photocopies of articles from journals or book chapters not owned by the Library

Photocopies of Library owned materials

20 sen per page for Temporary Borrowers. IJN staff will be charged to the individual department.
