The event was jointly organized by the National Heart Institute (IJN) and KHK LAND. The event was divided into three categories: 115km, 60km and 18km fun rides. The 115km route is a challenge for experienced riders, who have to pass through the Central Mountain Range, Kuala Kilang and Kulaigan. The 60km route is suitable for cycling enthusiasts, while the 18km fun ride provides a leisurely and relaxing experience for families and beginners.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin expressed his support for the event, believing that it is a practical initiative to promote individual heart health and a healthy lifestyle. He stressed that such collaborations are important in promoting community well-being and reflect the government’s efforts to encourage citizens to prioritize health. “This collaboration between the National Heart Center and Kwong Hon Kwong Land is a very meaningful example of improving public health.”

The National Heart Centre chief executive officer, Professor Datuk Seri Mohd Izanee Mohd Abdul Rahman stressed the growing awareness of heart health among the people, noting that “cardiovascular diseases account for more than 23% of all deaths in Malaysia, with more than 30% of deaths from heart disease occurring in people under the age of 60.”
Dr Mohd Izani added, “Hypertension, diabetes and obesity are on the rise, leading to an alarming increase in the number of heart-related problems. Nearly 70% of heart disease cases are not diagnosed until it is too late. Therefore, early prevention and regular screening are crucial. Athletes in particular must not neglect heart checkups as strenuous physical activity may cause changes in the heart that require professional monitoring.”
Mohd Izani also announced that the National Heart Centre will relaunch the Sports Cardiovascular Service in February, focusing on early detection of high-risk conditions and enhancing the heart health of athletes through evidence-based fitness safety programs. The service will target professional, recreational and youth athletes and will be fully managed by a team of cardiologists in the Department of Cardiology.

The event was full of action, including food trucks, game stalls, live performances and lucky draws, which provided a lively atmosphere for all ages and fitness participants to enjoy and experience. Finally, an awards ceremony was held on site to recognize the winners of the 115km and 60km categories.
The event is supported by key agencies such as the Royal Malaysian Police and the National Cycling Association of Malaysia, who have deployed personnel to help ensure road closures and safety so that riders and spectators can have a hindrance-free experience.
The 2025 Cycling for Hearts Ride was a success, highlighting the collaborative efforts to promote heart health and active living, and having a positive impact on the public. The National Heart Centre and Kwong Hon Kwong Land would like to express their sincere gratitude to all participants, sponsors and supporters who played a key role in making the event a complete success.
