RHB, IJN Team Up To Bring Mobile Heart Screening To Underserved Communities

RHB Banking Group and Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) have launched a partnership to expand access to essential heart healthcare, particularly for suburban, rural, remote and underserved communities nationwide.
RHB Banking Group managing director and group CEO Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad said the collaboration focuses on bringing preventive healthcare closer to communities where it matters most.
He added that improved access enables individuals to take charge of their wellbeing through early detection, education and long-term planning.
Meanwhile, IJN group CEO Prof Datuk Sri Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib said the mobile screening programme, introduced in 2013, has been a key platform for nationwide outreach, with the latest upgrades ensuring continued safety, sustainability and reach under IJN’s “IJN Goes Beyond” commitment.
The initiative centres on IJN’s upgraded 40-foot mobile heart health screening unit, now equipped with echocardiogram (ECHO) and electrocardiogram (ECG) facilities, as well as a trauma triage room.

The enhanced mobility and reliability of the unit will allow IJN to conduct more frequent and wider-reaching screening missions beyond hospital settings, with immediate referrals issued on-site when further care is required.
Additionally, RHB has allocated RM600,000 for the prime mover and is expected to make additional contributions towards the execution of the project.
Over the next three years, RHB and IJN will roll out joint outreach programmes combining heart health screening and education with financial literacy initiatives, aimed at supporting healthier and more financially aware households.
Through the collaboration, at least 12 locations are expected to be covered annually, benefiting more than 3,000 community members.
