Cardiac catheterization is a procedure used to diagnose and treat certain heart problems. Interventional procedure is an extension of the catheterization procedure where cardiac defects are treated in an Invasive cardiac laboratory instead of by conventional surgery. Examples of this are balloon dilation of narrowed heart valves (pulmonary and aortic valve), implantation of a device to close a hole in the heart (ASD closure) and implantation of stents to open a narrowed major vessel (aorta, pulmonary artery). Some of these procedures can be complex especially those performed in neonates and small infants.
We perform more than 800 procedures every year. Half of these are interventional in nature. Our team of interventional cardiologists are experienced and skilful, performing various complex interventional procedures from the small infants to adults with structural/congenital heart disease
