IJN Reaffirms Leadership in Aortic Care with Successful Aortic Conclave 2025
Kuala Lumpur, 12 July 2025 — Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), in collaboration with Edwards Lifesciences, successfully concluded the IJN Edwards Lifesciences Aortic Conclave 2025, a two-day regional workshop focused on elevating expertise and fostering surgical excellence in the management of aortic valve and aortic diseases.
The event brought together 91 delegates and faculty members, including participants from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, alongside four aspiring cardiac surgeons from local medical institutions. With a carefully curated programme led by IJN’s own surgical experts and regional key opinion leaders, the Conclave delivered a blend of international best practices and Southeast Asia–specific insights.
“This symposium is more than a clinical update it is a space to challenge our thinking and refine perspectives,” said Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohamed Ezani Md Taib, IJN Group CEO, in his opening address. “As aortic pathology remains central to cardiac surgery, we must continue to evolve balancing timeless surgical principles with innovations like TAVI and valve-sparing techniques.”
Key highlights of the workshop included:
- Updates on the latest AHA/ACC (2020) and ESC/EACTS (2021) guidelines
- In-depth discussions on clinical judgment in complex aortic cases
- Hands-on exposure to minimally invasive and valve-sparing techniques
- Dialogue on access disparities and training gaps in the region
The Conclave also addressed regional challenges such as uneven access to advanced technologies, cost-effectiveness concerns, and the need for more robust training pathways for younger surgeons. The workshop reinforced IJN’s belief that knowledge-sharing is a responsibility—not just to peers, but to future generations of cardiac specialists.
IJN extends its appreciation to Edwards Lifesciences and Johnson & Johnson for their continued support in advancing medical education and professional collaboration.
This landmark event further cements IJN’s role as Malaysia’s national heart centre and a regional hub for cardiovascular excellence.
